The Artist 100 provides the first weekly ranking dedicated to measuring artist activity across Billboard's most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Digital song sales follow closely with 35 percent of Swift's Artist 100 points. Her current single, "Blank Space," tops Digital Songs for a sixth week with 249,000 downloads sold (and leads the Hot 100 for a fifth frame).
Cole bounds onto the Artist 100 at No. 2 as his new album 2014 Forest Hills Drive roars onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with 375,000 total album equivalent units (with 353,000 from pure album purchases). Album sales easily mark his biggest Artist 100 points contributor (74 percent).
Rounding out the Artist 100's top five, Pentatonix slips 2-3 after two weeks at the a cappella group's No. 2 peak, followed by Ed Sheeran (4-4) and Sam Smith (3-5).
In the Artist 100's other main top 10 highlight, Carrie Underwood reaches the region for the first time (49-9). Fueling her move: her new Greatest Hits: Decade #1 opens at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, and No. 1 on Top Country Albums, with 103,000 total album equivalent units (with 94,000 from pure album sales).
